    I remember going through there many years ago on a Fishing Charter Boat the MV Toroa. The Toroa is a sound 14m boat but we were still being pushed around. Certainly not a place where you'd want to fall in..

    Nice fish mate & well played right out. Interesting that you took the hook out & dispatched it so close to the water - I'd have been on shore as knowing my luck it would have slipped from my grasp & gone merrily on its way lol. Cheers

    What happened to the fish tail

    • @searun6
      @searun6 3 роки тому

      These fish have escaped from the fish farm in the canal. In the farm they are kept in a big cage or pen made from netting. The tails and fins get worn down from swimming around and rubbing on the inside of the netting. Some fish escape through small holes the mesh or they are released from the farm because they do not meet market requirements.

    What sort of rod you using?

    • @searun6
      @searun6 3 роки тому

      The rod is a 9ft Lew’s “Wally Marshall, Signature Series”, rated 2-10lb with a nice little overhead bait caster reel loaded up with 10lb braid. The reel is that smooth I’m able to cast small softbaits on 1/16 jigheads.

      @@searun6 that's quite a achievement throwing that light of a weight....how far can you throw a 1/16 weight 3" plastic?

    Also, I once caught a small canal trout w 13 soft baits in it's gut... Needless to say it was emaciated and weak. I'm very careful to put used soft baits in the bin, too many on the bank these days.

    If you're going to release the fish, you should really use a net, that way the fish at least has a chance of survival. I know it's hard when by yourself and the rocks are slippery tho.

    A nice video pal. How come you didn't use a net instead of letting those fish flap around on the rocks ??
